MENA

Erin and I just returned from a few days in Mena and we had a great trip. We went back to see Mom’s monument which was set a week or so before. It turned out beautiful and I know Mom would love it.

We were hoping to see some beautiful fall foliage but the dry weather has kept the leaves mostly in the brown and yellow shades. Grant barely put up with us as we carted him from cemeteries to shops to hotels. The most fun he had was playing in the puddles at the hotel in Hot Springs.

Our visit with Sue, my cousin in Mena, was great and we can’t wait to go back and spend more time with her and her family. I have so many memories of sweet times there with Sue and her family, my grandparents, and many holidays spent with extended family so many years ago.

We spent the night on Rich Mountain at Queen Wilhelmina State Park. It stormed during the night and was really foggy the next morning but the views were still awesome.

This is the Rocky Methodist Church which sits next to the Rocky Cemetery. My grandfather lived next to the cemetery and is now buried there.

Can’t wait to go back again next Spring…..
